The Universe contains everything that exist. this includes the Earth, other planets, and billions of stars. The universe is about 15,000 million years old and still growing. Scientist believe it was probably born after a very large explosions which they call "The Big Bang".
Galaxy Clusters
Out in space there are glowing clouds made up of masses of floating dust. These are called nebulas, and they often looks like smudge of light. Nebulas also contain millions of stars. Nebula and stars from huge clusters called galaxies. Our own galaxy is called "The Milky Way"
Cosmic Rays
Stars produce huge amounts of energy. This reaches the Earth as heat, light, and cosmic rays, made of tiny particles. These particles travel so fast that when they hit other particles in our atmosphere they smash them, releasing bursts of radiation energy.
Spins and Streamers
Galaxies come in different shapes. Many of them are spinning. The stars they contain trail out to form long streamers.
